The Quick Reservation Strategy (So You Don’t Get Stuck)

Snagging dinner reservations on Valentine’s Day is not always an easy feat, even outside of big cities. Keep these tips in mind to avoid a scheduling snafu:

1. Book an earlier table

Earlier table times (think 5:00 PM or 5:30 PM) will be more available, and the restaurant will be less likely to have fallen behind schedule early in dinner service. If you don’t want to get stuck waiting, choose an earlier dinner window.

2. Check if the restaurant has a prix fixe menu

Don’t get caught unaware when it comes to special Valentine’s Day menu items and pricing. Many restaurants swap out their normal menu or add on a special that operates prix fixe. This means you’ll pay a single set price for a predetermined menu.

Usually, these menus include multiple courses, so you’ll likely get appetizers, a main dish, and dessert. Drink specials may or may not be included. Some fine dining restaurants will provide very little wiggle room with their set fare, but most will have options that accommodate different dietary needs.

3. Look at parking maps

If your dining adventure is going to take you downtown, a parking garage offers peace of mind and prevents driving around looking for an available spot. Make sure you factor in the walking distance from the garage to your dinner location so you don’t miss your reservation time.

Many restaurants in particularly popular places (like Shrewsbury Street) share parking lots, so be sure to check your spot’s website for specific parking advice.

Campfire Cannabis as Your “Plan-Ahead” Stop

If cannabis is part of your Valentine’s plans, we’re here to help you prepare. Stop by Campfire Cannabis at 65 W Boylston Street before heading out. A reminder to consume responsibly: line up a designated driver or rideshare for the evening, or save your cannabis for after you’re home. Dinner first, then the vibe.
