Getting Outside: Things to Do Memorial Day Weekend in the Area

Worcester County’s outdoor options are strong enough to fill the entire long weekend without repeating yourself.

Join the Stow Minutemen as they participate in Boylston’s annual Boylston Memorial Day Parade, with the parade stepping off around 10:30 AM from Pine Grove Cemetery on Scar Hill Road on Monday, May 25. The procession marches through town to the Old Burying Ground before concluding at the Town Common, where food vendors, live music at the bandstand, and open doors at the historical society and library round out the festivities.

Firecracker Sports returns to Worcester, MA for the 2026 6th Annual Memorial Day Patriotic Bash – Worcester, a youth travel baseball tournament running May 23–25, 2026 across six age divisions from 9U to 14U. Pool play kicks off Saturday and Sunday, with playoffs and championships on Monday.

New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, at 11 French Drive in Boylston, about five minutes from the dispensary, is one of the most well-kept secrets in Central Massachusetts. It has formal garden areas, walking trails, and views over the Wachusett Reservoir that are at their absolute best in late May.

Wachusett Reservoir along Route 140 is the region’s defining natural landmark (regulated access makes swimming off-limits), but the walking paths and scenic overlooks around the perimeter are some of the most consistently beautiful terrain in the county.

Green Hill Park and Golf Course on Skyline Drive in Worcester covers approximately 480 acres with picnic areas, a farm, and open green space that holds up well for a group Memorial Day afternoon.

Wong Dynasty, about 15 minutes away, is a large-format Chinese restaurant with the kind of group-friendly setup that works for a holiday weekend dinner.

In Worcester’s downtown, Volturno Pizza Napoletana on Shrewsbury Street and BirchTree Bread Company on Green Street give you two strong options for a meal before or after the city’s Memorial Day events.
