7 Things to Do If You Get Too High

It’s happened to us all, too much of a good thing has turned bad. Maybe you thought you could handle some Kitchen Sink and now you feel like you’ve been hit with an actual kitchen sink. Or maybe you weren’t feeling anything from that edible so you ate some more and suddenly you can’t feel your feet.

‌Whatever the case, you now find yourself uncomfortable and extremely high. Whether you’re new to the cannabis community or experienced, an overwhelming high can happen to anyone. But don’t worry, today we’ll help you know what to do if you get too high.

Here are some tips to help you pass the time while you wait to come down.

1. Keep Calm and Carry On

We know, that’s easier said than done. When you’re too high, try to remind yourself that this feeling will pass. No one has ever died from a cannabis overdose. The effects of an overwhelming high can last minutes to a few hours.

2. Find a Safe Place

If you’re out in public, try to get to a safe place. Have a friend get you to a safe place or get an Uber/Lyft. You’re less likely to panic if you’re in a familiar, happy place and that extreme high won’t feel quite so bad.

3. Hydrate

‌Drink plenty of water! A cold glass of water will help with blood flow and alleviate dry mouth. Make sure to sip the water. Chugging water can make you nauseous and increase the uncomfortable feeling.

For some extra relief, add a little lemon to the water. Lemon contains anti-anxiety properties that will help take the edge off.

4. Have a Snack

Relieve the munchies. When you have an overwhelming high, choose lighter snacks. Getting too full will just make things worse. Some snacks to help combat your high are:

  • Pine nuts: This tasty snack will help relieve your high because they contain terpenes that will increase your neurotransmitters.
  • Black peppercorns: Random, right? But so many people swear by this trick. Simply chew on a black peppercorn to reduce anxiety. Science suggests black peppercorns contain terpenes that help reduce anxiety.
  • Lemons: We mentioned adding some lemon to your water earlier. But if you really like lemons, try biting into a wedge to help relieve that high.

5. Get Physical

Moving around or taking a walk will help take your mind off of the discomfort. If you’re worried about wandering off and getting lost, simply pace around your house for a little bit.

6. Take a Shower

A cool to warm shower can help lift the fog. You might want to start by sitting in the shower and letting the water run down you. Standing on a slippery surface when you’re too high can be dangerous.

7. Sleep

When you’re too high to function, simply passing out can be the best solution. Just make sure you’re in a safe place before falling asleep.
